An engineer from China has created a design which will ensure maximum results from a one-bowl-one-visit to the free salad bar at a <a href="http://www.pizzanews.co.uk/category/pizza-hut-news/"title="" >Pizza Hut restaurant.

Shen Hongui came up with the plan after Pizza Hut imposed a limit on the number of visits diners could make to their salad bar in their restaurants in China. Following Shen’s instructions, diners are able to construct a 1 metre high tower of free salad, ensuring they make the most out of their single visit to the salad buffet.

The engineer recommends building a sturdy foundation for your salad tower with the use of potatoes or chickpeas, then using carrot batons as scaffolding to construct the tower shape and an outer wall of cucumber. The tower will then be hollow to allow the diner to fill it up with their own choices.

A British newspaper has reported that Pizza Hut restaurants in China started pulling their salad bars after the Shen tower of salad started to gain popularity amongst diners who were attempting to pile their bowls with a metre of salad at a time.

There were concerns that the 1 metre salad towers would lead to food wastage as most diners would fail to finish their mountains of free salad, leaving much of the salad to be left uneaten.

The <a href="http://www.pizzanews.co.uk/category/pizza-hut-news/"title="" >Pizza Hut restaurant in Howardsgate, Welwyn Garden City, has confirmed it will be closing its doors after it revealed last year that it wouldn’t be renewing its lease on the building it currently operates from.

While the Pizza Hut will finish serving pizza from its restaurant in Howardsgate on January 14th, a spokesperson for the pizza provider revealed that fans of Pizza Hut in the Welwyn Garden City area should not despair as the business was in the process of seeking out a suitable unit in the town from which to set up a <a href="http://www.dominos.co.uk/ourstores/Pontyclun.aspx"title="" >pizza delivery service.

The lease on the 2,500 square foot unit was due for renewal in 2014 and Pizza Hut announced last summer that it would not be renewing when the time came. However new tenants have been found for the premises, and so Pizza Hut have taken the opportunity to opt out of their tenancy agreement early.

The Chinese buffet chain, Real China Express has been revealed as the new occupants of the site and hope to have their restaurant up and running by the end of February.

Pizza Hut say they continually evaluate the location of their restaurants in order to ensure they are best meeting the needs of their customers in a particular area. In the situation of Welwyn Garden City, Pizza Hut took the decision that they could best serve customers in this area through a home pizza delivery service as opposed to a restaurant and dine in pizza facility.

Pizza Hut was closely followed by home pizza deliver experts Domino’s Pizza and Papa John’s in the list which was revealed last week.

The annual 11th Google Zeitgeist list charts the most searched for terms on the search engine throughout the last year, with Pizza Hut coming in first place for the food industry for US searches, with Domino’s and Papa John’s as runners up, while Starbuck and McDonalds came were placed in fourth and fifth place respectively which demonstrates that the pizza market has been especially buoyant in 2011 as the top three restaurants are all pizza related.

While pizza was the hot topic on search engines for American Google users, the trend was also evident in Mexico, Germany and Singapore where pizza related searches were also found to be topping the annual poll.

Another fast food provider, KFC, also made a splash online this year in New Zealand when its Double Down burger debuted in the country in May. The bun-less burger succeeded in breaking sales records after it was released in the States, and its popularity obviously spread to New Zealand as it featured on the most searched term on Google’s Zeitgeist list for 2011.

The low calorie selection of pizzas, dubbed the Pizzetta range, will feature three pizzas all of which contain less than 500 calories each. The pizzas which make up the Pizzetta range includes Chicken Delight, Shrimply Delicious and Virtuous Veg.

The launch of the new reduced calorie selection of pizzas has been set to coincide with the introduction of the government’s drive to lower the UK’s calorie intake. As part of the Department of Health’s new initiative, the government is aiming to reduce the nation’s calorie intake by 5 million calories by 2020.

Pizza Hut are planning to email 2 million customers, whose details they have collected on their company database, as part of a new marketing campaign for the Pizzetta range of pizzas. The 2 million customers will receive an email with information on the new range, and also details about introductory offers which will allow users to sample the new selection for less.

In addition to the mass email, the launch of the new Pizzetta range of low calorie pizzas is also being supported through the pizza giant’s UK Facebook page.

The pizza provider has also started publishing calorie content for each of their products on the Pizza Hut menus to enable customers to make informed decisions on the food choices they make. A number of other fast food companies have also followed suit including McDonalds and Burger King.

A fake offer for free pizza from <a href="http://www.pizzanews.co.uk/category/pizza-hut-news/"title="" >Pizza Hut is sweeping the social network, Facebook, with members being lured into sharing the link on their wall in return for a coupon which they’re told will entitle them to free pizza from the restaurant and takeaway chain.

The scammers have set up a phoney offer enticing Facebook users into clicking on the link with the message “Eat for free at Pizza Hut”, urging pizza lovers to sign up immediately before the supply runs out. The offer claims to provide those who sign up with vouchers which can be redeemed in exchanged for orders placed with the pizza provider.

However when Facebook members attempt to download their free pizza coupon, they’re told to share the link on their profile and leave a comment praising Pizza Hut. The more people who share the link of the wall, the further the scam is spreading as more and more users come across the fake offer.

Those who do click on the link are redirected to a third party site which doesn’t mention anything to do with free pizza, but does ask for visitors to impart a number of personal details.

The scam was first detected and reported by Sophos who advise users who have fallen for the phoney free pizza offer to delete the link off their walls to avoid spreading the scam even further.

So if you come across a free Pizza Hut offer on Facebook in the next few weeks, think twice before you click.

Pizza Hut will challenge America to “Share a Slice of Hope” during the four week programme to raise funds for the special cause.

It’s estimated all 7,200 Pizza Hut outlets throughout the US will take part in the charity campaign which the pizza giant hopes will help highlight the issues of global hunger and raise funds to help tackle the issue.

According to recent statistics, there are 1 billion people in the world today going days or even weeks without a substantial meal, which Pizza Hut believes is totally unacceptable and is working with the charity to help bring an end to world hunger.

Pizza Hut say that every $1 dollar donated through their month long campaign will feed four children so a little donation really does go a long way.

Customers can donate online at PizzaHut.com and share their donation on social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter to encourage their friends to follow suit and donate to the World Hunger Relief charity.

If customers in the States would rather donate while visiting their local Pizza Hut, they can choose to leave their mark by adding a personalised slice of pepperoni on the pizza shaped donation board to show that they’ve made a contribution to the cause.

Pizza Hut say that all donations made in the next four weeks will benefit the World Food Programme’s hunger relief programme, so what are you waiting for, get donating.

A recent survey by the consumer groups Which? found that two out of three adults would like to see the calorie information clearly displayed on all fast food products. At present, there is no legal obligation for fast food providers to display how many calories are contained within their menu offerings, however Which? is calling for government intervention to make this kind of labelling mandatory in the industry.

In reaction to the recent findings from Which? 37 different companies have agreed to sign up to the voluntary calorie labelling scheme, including international fast food providers such as McDonalds, Burger King, KFC and Pizza Hut. The information is due to start appearing on the menus and menu boards of the 37 firms who’ve agreed to the policy within the coming month.

It is hoped that displaying the calorie information for fast food products such as pizzas and burgers will help consumers make sensible decisions regarding their food choices. The recommended daily intake of calories for a man is 2,500 and 1,900 for women, with this in mind, the calorie content of some of our favourite fast food nibbles may come as a shock with a Pizza Hut double pepperoni 9 inch pizza weighing in with 1,200 calories, and a McDonalds Big Mac and medium fries carrying 820 calories.

The pizza giant is attempting to obtain licences which will allow the stores to open until 3am so that their outlets can compete with other takeaways in the area such as kebab and fish and chip shops which regularly stay open until the early hours.

However the applications have been met with resistance from many of the communities and residents living in the vicinity of the Pizza Hut branches applying for the later opening hours.

Many are concerned that the extended opening hours will encourage noisy drinkers leaving pubs and clubs to visit the Pizza Hut outlets. Another issue which is raising concern for local residents is that <a href="http://www.dominos.co.uk/ourstores/Pontyclun.aspx"title="" >pizza delivery drivers could also contribute to noise pollution late into the night as they come and go from the store, banging doors and driving noisy mopeds.

In their defence, Pizza Hut say they don’t plan to stay open until 3am every night, in fact it’s likely they’ll close their doors at midnight during the week, and 1am or 2am on weekends. The pizza giant also believes that because of their prices and the fact that customers have to wait for their pizzas to be made, drinkers are more likely to visit rival fast food suppliers such as kebab and fish and chip shops where food is cheaper and ready immediately, meaning they don’t plan on attracting rowdy clientele.

A decision will be made on whether or not to grant the late licences for the six Pizza Hut outlets in question this Friday, September 16th.

The exclusive Pizza Hut offer was launched in the US recently with a whopping 50,000 taking advantage of the pizza giveaway on the first day of the special offer. All fans of the pizza giant who “liked” Pizza Hut on social network site Facebook, and those who receive the Pizza Hut Loves email program were entitled to the free pizza when an order was made online.

The free pizza offer, known as the P’Zone, allows each customer one of the Pizza Hut’s most popular items, the cheese and topping filled calzone, for free. To claim their free pizza, customers need to click on the “Get Your P’Zone” tab while ordering online.

Pizza Hut say they decided to launch the pizza giveaway to reward their loyal customers during this difficult of economic uncertainty. With many people struggling with the effects of government cuts and job losses, Pizza Hut wanted to give something back to their customers who may be affected by the economic downturn.

The free P’Zone pizza offer is only available for a limited time only for customers in the US so you’ll need to get online right away to make the most of the offer.

A man from Massachusetts has claimed to have found an image of Jesus and Mary on an old pizza tray he came across in his garage.

Josh Mather used to run a sports bar with his brother until the economic downturn forced their business to close. Since then, much of their kitchen equipment has been stored at Mather’s garage.

The Mansfield man described how he came face to face with the pizza tray with the amazing image while he was clearing stuff out of his garage last Tuesday, which happened to be Shrove Tuesday and the day before Ash Wednesday. Mather explained how he “totally stopped” what he was doing when he noticed the image burnt into the well-used pizza tray and was completely gobsmacked by the finding.

Inspired by the image of what Mather believes is Jesus and Mary, the former sports bar owner decided to go to church the following day, the first time he’d stepped inside a holy building for 20 years.

This latest sighting isn’t the first time Jesus has shown himself in a pizza tin. Back in 2007 a kitchen worked from Texas claimed the image of Jesus had appeared in a pizza tin he was washing up.
