The band were reportedly so touched by the loyalty of their fans that they arranged for a local pizza takeaway to deliver stacks of piping hot pizzas to the music lovers who’d decided to camp out overnight so they would be first through the box office doors to buy tickets for the intimate gig in Norwich.

The one-off concert was organised as part of Radio 1’s Student Tour, with Coldplay scheduled to perform at East Anglia University on October 27^th as part of the event. However with just 1,200 tickets at £20 each available, demand was likely to far outstrip supply, and so hundreds of die-hard Coldplay fans decided they couldn’t risk not getting a ticket, and so slept in the queue to ensure they were first in line when the show went on sale at 9am last Saturday.

Coldplay are not the first bunch of celebrities to order takeaway pizzas for the fans, in fact the practice is becoming something of a trend with Beyonce getting the pizzas in for her followers at a TV recording at the BBC, and Lady Gaga ordering pizza delivery from Papa John’s for her “little monsters” who’d queued for hours at an album signing.

The pizza provider is looking to find a pizza lover in the local Lincolnshire area to try out their pizzas for free. In exchange for the free pizza, the chosen pizza tester must give feedback on the dish in order to assist Papa John’s with their new pizza creations.

The pizza delivery company will be experimenting with its new pizzas made from 100% fresh dough over the coming six months. The official taste tester for the Lincoln branch of Papa John’s will be tasked with sampling these pizzas and giving their honest opinion on how they rated the new pizza.

The franchisee at Papa John’s Lincoln branch says the company is committed to developing new and exciting menu ideas and that the introduction of taste tester will help them maintain their high standards of quality and flavour.

Papa Johns have launched a new pizza loyalty scheme to help encourage online sales in the US.

The pizza chain is also planning a complete makeover of its website as the company aims to increase online sales of pizza. Currently a quarter of Papa John’s pizza orders are made via their website, however with the introduction of the new revamped site, the pizza giant hopes to generate 50% of its sales online.

The new website will showcase a number of new features including a facility which forms an image of customer’s pizza as they are placing their order and tailoring their pizza to their personal preferences with different toppings and pizza base choices.

The new loyalty programme, known as Papa Points, is only available in the US initially and will award each customer one point for every $5 spent. When the customer reaches 25 points, they will be able to trade in their points in exchange for a free pizza.

The decision to launch a rewards based programme was made after the pizza chain conducted a study which found that people are more likely to part with more of their money online if they receive some kind of reward for doing so.

Papa Johns say the drive to increase online sales will not result in less people being employed in store, instead the staff will now be able to concentrate on the important business of making delicious pizza.

Lady Gaga treated her loyal fans to $1,000 worth of pizza courtesy of Papa Johns this week. The wacky singer decided to reward her followers, who had queued for hours outside a record store in the US where she was signing copies of her new album, by giving away free pizza.

Hundreds of Gaga fans descended upon the Best Buy store in Los Angeles to get their copy of the new album, The Fame Monster, signed by the Lady herself. The singer also hit the headlines this week, not unusually, for her outrageous choice of costume for her album signing tour. Taking the current trend for 80’s style shoulder pads to great heights, Gaga sported a black blazer with should pads which reached her ear lobes.

Gaga devotees had a happy wait for their idol outside the record store in LA as 80 cheese pizzas were delivered throughout the day courtesy of Papa Johns. The free pizza certainly helped to keep the crowd in good spirits as they waited patiently. Writing on her Twitter account, Lady Gaga posted this message: “Sending all my little monsters little pizzas for waiting all night for me at best buy. I hope you’re hungry…eat up I love u!”
