Domino’s Pizza’s popularity shows no signs of waning as the company recently revealed that their online sales regularly top £1 million a day. The increased usage of smart phones and the success of the Domino’s Pizza app has been credited with helping the home <a href="http://www.dominos.co.uk/ourstores/Pontyclun.aspx"title="" >pizza delivery provider achieve these impressive sales.

Shares for Domino’s are 6% higher compared to the same time last year, after the pizza provider announced their full year profits for the company would be in line with market expectations, which currently stands at £42.2 million.

Strong sales in the run up to Christmas helped Domino’s achieve impressive full year figures with the home pizza delivery provider reporting total orders of £145 million in the 13 weeks leading up to Christmas, £53.1 million of which were online sales. The figures are 9.5% higher compared to the same period 12 months previously.

Saturday night TV shows, such as the X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing, helped keep people at home on the weekends and ordering pizzas, which helped boost sales figures for Domino’s further. The economic downturn is still having an effect on the dining habits of Brits as many choose the cheaper option of a takeaway on the sofa as opposed to a night out in a restaurant.

Domino’s new Chief Executive says the business will be looking forward to 2012 with optimism, with plans to nurture growth further with the development of new products and the introduction of Domino’s branches in new locations.

A Domino’s Pizza outlet in Bath has submitted an application to request that they remain open and serving customers until 5am in order to better serve shift workers living in the area.

As well as requesting an extension to their current opening hours, which are 1:30 am Monday to Saturday and 11:30pm on Sunday, the home <a href="http://www.dominos.co.uk/ourstores/Pontyclun.aspx"title="" >pizza delivery branch have proposed a change to the times their ingredients are delivered. Currently Domino’s in Bath are only allowed to receive stock deliveries between the hours of 9am – 3pm, however the branch argues this is the busiest time of the day for traffic and are requesting that their delivery hours be altered to between 6am-8am when the area is less busy.

Domino’s say they have been in consultation with the local residents’ association over the proposed changes to their operating and delivery hours as the pizza outlet say they take their responsibility as a neighbour very seriously.

Domino’s Pizza in Bath have sent their application to the local council who are considering the takeaway’s request to remain open, serving customers either over the counter or via their delivery service, until 5am.

The extended opening hours would allow the branch of Domino’s to better serve the needs of its community, the outlet argues, offering the chance for customers to use their services at a time which is convenient for them. The 5am opening extension would also create new jobs at the Bath premises of Domino’s Pizza which currently employs a workforce of 50 people.

The Pizza, Pasta and Italian Food association seeks to recognise and reward the suppliers and restaurants working within the Italian cuisine industry in the UK. The accolade is especially significant for Domino’s as this year’s trophy marks the second time in a row that the home pizza delivery expert has collected the award.

The PAPA judging panel were looking for companies which excelled in a number of specific areas when searching for this year’s winner for the pizza delivery category. Only chains with 10 or more branches were eligible to compete, with the PAPA judges looking for a company which provides the very highest standard of customer service, top quality ingredients and a quality product, a commitment to providing a superior standard of delivery to the customer and also new product development.

Domino’s were singled out as this year’s worthy winner with PAPA highlighting the global companies impressive growth over the last 12 months and also their ambitious plans for the future as their main reasons for awarding this year’s trophy to Domino’s.

If you’re also a big fan of the UK’s Top Pizza Deliver Chain, then don’t miss out on Global Domino’s Day tomorrow (December 8th) which will see Facebook fans of the pizza provider rewarded with a 50% discount off menu prices for orders placed online.

- Pizza maker from Brentwood makes it through to Boot Camp -

Roxy Yarnold, a 19 year old pizza maker from Domino’s in Brentwood, wowed the X Factor judges over the weekend with her rendition of Georgia on My Mind. Receiving four yeses from the panel, Roxy is now through to Boot Camp, the next stage of the top ITV1 singing competition.

Roxy has worked at the Domino’s store on Brentwood High Street for the past three years but dreams of taking the charts by storm as the next female singing sensation. Roxy’s influences include Joss Stone, Jessie J, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. Music has always been in her blood – Roxy started singing at the age of five and was encouraged to apply for this year’s show by her colleagues at Domino’s.

Roxy Yarnold said: “I’m always singing at work – sometimes I don’t even realise I’m doing it! – and my co-workers kept saying I should apply so this year, I thought I’d go for it. I was over the moon to get a ‘yes’ from each of the judges.”

Saif Alani, franchisee of Domino’s in Brentwood, said: “Not only is she a great pizza maker but Roxy is a very talented singer too. Everyone in the store is behind her and we really hope she does well at boot camp. We will be gutted if Roxy has to leave pizza making to pursue her music career but we hope she’ll still order plenty of <a href="http://www.pizzanews.co.uk/category/dominos-pizza-news/"title="" >Domino’s pizzas on her rider!”

Bosses at the popular TV soap, Coronation Street, have issued all cast members with guidelines on the do’s and don’ts of discussing brands on their Twitter blogs after noticing an upsurge in tweets mentioning specific companies including fast food chain McDonalds, a fake tan company and also <a href="http://www.dominos.co.uk/ourstores/Pontyclun.aspx"title="" >pizza delivery company, Domino’s Pizza.

The ITV soap says that the guidelines have been issued to prevent their cast members from being taken advantage of as some may have tweeted about a brand innocently, although the upshot is that the brand will receive free advertising and further kudos as a result of being mentioned by a soap star.

19-year-old Coronation Street actress, Brooke Vincent, has noted to have dropped a number of company names during her most recent tweets including the fast food giant McDonalds, also leading pizza delivery company, Domino’s Pizza, and also a fake tan brand.

Although the ITV bosses were quick to defend their cast members, saying that there was no evidence to suggest any of the actors or actresses had gained financially or received free products or services in exchange for posting tweets including brand names or commenting on how they’ve visited a particular restaurant, hotel or shop.

The TV channel bosses hope the recently issued guidelines will prevent any of their performers from inadvertently publicising companies and brands outside of the soap opera.

The news has been welcomed by the club and also its fans as not only has the local Domino’s franchise continued its sponsorship of the football side, it’s increased commercial agreement with Lincoln City.
The Domino’s Pizza franchise will officially sponsor Lincoln Football club tickets, and will continue to provide the mascot on match days, and also sponsor the club’s website.
The pizza takeaway giant plans to open a new outlet in Llandudno within the coming months. The takeaway branch will be run as a local business and will bring between 25 – 35 jobs to local people in Llandudno.

A site for the new pizza takeaway has not yet been found, however Domino’s is currently exploring a range of different sites across the town before making a decision of where to open the new store.

The mayor of Llandudno has welcomed the news that the global brand will be opening its latest branch in the town, and also the new jobs the store opening will bring to the area. Although the town’s mayor added that he believed the site for the new store should be carefully considered so as to not have a negative impact on similar business in the area.

Domino’s Pizza recently opened another outlet in the nearby town of Bangor in North Wales. The store went down well with locals, and so Domino’s have made the decision to open an outlet in the area, just over 20 miles away in Llandudno.

No opening date for Domino’s Pizza in Llandudno has been revealed as yet. Stay in touch for the latest recruitment news for the new pizza branch in North Wales.

The company’s phenomenal growth in mobile sales has today been bolstered with the launch of Domino’s new Android ordering app.

Domino’s existing mobile channels include an iPhone ordering app and mobile optimised website. The iPhone app, first launched in September, has achieved over 500,000 downloads to date. Domino’s mobile optimised website was introduced in December, making it possible for BlackBerry and other smart phone users to also order pizza whenever and wherever they are. Pizza sales taken through the iPhone app and mobile optimised ordering site have just reached over £10 million.

The Android app, launched today, is the newest addition to Domino’s suite of mobile ordering channels. The free app has many of the same features as Domino’s iPhone app including a carousel style menu to allow customers to select their favourite pizzas, sides, desserts, subs and drinks. Pizzas can be customised by pinching to resize the base and scattering on a range of tasty toppings before sending the order straight to the store. Android users can also be in with the chance of winning money off their next order by popping their pizza in the oven and swiping or blowing away the steam to reveal a code. Then, while the pizza is in the real oven, users can keep tabs on its progress with the real-time pizza tracker.

Simon Wallis, sales and marketing director for Domino’s, said: “We’re always looking for innovative ways to allow our customers to order. We first launched online ordering ten years ago and, based on its phenomenal success, we were keen to capitalise on new opportunities created by mobile channels. Investing in this type of technology is now paying dividends for us, achieving pizza sales of over £10 million. With sales of Android phones reported to be up 810 per cent year on year*, we’re excited about what the future holds with the launch of our new app, which will allow even more pizza lovers to order on the move.”

Download Domino’s free apps from the Apple App Store and Android Market.

Prior to this, customers had to pay cash upon arrival of the pizza delivery person at their address.

Now Domino’s Pizza fans can order a pizza and pay for it over the phone to save the hassle of running to the cash point, or getting the right change together. Domino’s Pizza say they are committed to using new technology to ensure the most convenient service for their customers in India.

The credit card payments will be taken using the Paymate system, which is the leading provider of mobile payment services in India. The system will be trialled through a number of Domino’s Stores in India to iron out blips before the service is rolled out across the country.

Customers who wish to pay for their Domino’s Pizza delivery over the phone will be transferred to the IVR payment system which allows the customer to provide their credit or debit card details via the secure payment system.

Domino’s in India say that their customer feedback found that card payment for delivery orders was in great demand, and so the leading home pizza delivery company hope the introduction of the new service will enhance customer experience.

Luckily, no one was hurt in the crash as the Domino’s Pizza store was closed at the time as the accident happened just before 9am. It’s been reported that the female driver, named as Michelle Fletcher, was planning to drop her pet dog off at the American Dog Grooming School which is situated next door to the pizza outlet.

Despite the fact that all of the parking bays outside the pet’s grooming parlour were vacant, the driver careered past the spaces, and straight into the front window of the Domino’s Pizza branch. A representative from the store said the vehicle was stopped in its tracks after colliding with a heavy pizza oven.

The female driver was taken to hospital to check for injuries, before being arrested by the police on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence, Driving Under Suspension, and Driving Without Insurance.

The Domino’s Pizza outlet has been forced to close as a result of the accident with all telephone and online orders being diverted to another nearby Domino’s branch. The manager said they were unsure how long it would take to repair the damage and get the store up and running again.
