Thu, 21 Jul 2011 15:43:40 +0000 en hourly 1 Corrie stars warned over promoting brands like Domino’s Pizza on Twitter Mon, 11 Jul 2011 15:50:14 +0000 Ian Bosses at the popular TV soap, Coronation Street, have issued all cast members with guidelines on the do’s and don’ts of discussing brands on their Twitter blogs after noticing an upsurge in tweets mentioning specific companies including fast food chain McDonalds, a fake tan company and also pizza delivery company, Domino’s Pizza.

The ITV soap says that the guidelines have been issued to prevent their cast members from being taken advantage of as some may have tweeted about a brand innocently, although the upshot is that the brand will receive free advertising and further kudos as a result of being mentioned by a soap star.

19-year-old Coronation Street actress, Brooke Vincent, has noted to have dropped a number of company names during her most recent tweets including the fast food giant McDonalds, also leading pizza delivery company, Domino’s Pizza, and also a fake tan brand.

Although the ITV bosses were quick to defend their cast members, saying that there was no evidence to suggest any of the actors or actresses had gained financially or received free products or services in exchange for posting tweets including brand names or commenting on how they’ve visited a particular restaurant, hotel or shop.

The TV channel bosses hope the recently issued guidelines will prevent any of their performers from inadvertently publicising companies and brands outside of the soap opera.

Domino’s extends sponsorship agreement with Lincoln football club Fri, 10 Jun 2011 10:48:53 +0000 Michelle Leading home pizza delivery company, Domino’s Pizza, has extended its sponsorship deal with Lincoln City Football team and will continue to support the local club throughout the coming football season.

The news has been welcomed by the club and also its fans as not only has the local Domino’s franchise continued its sponsorship of the football side, it’s increased commercial agreement with Lincoln City. The side was recently relegated to the Blue Square Premiership so Domino’s decision to increase its support for the club will give the football side a great boost.

The Domino’s Pizza franchise will officially sponsor Lincoln Football club tickets, and will continue to provide the mascot on match days, and also sponsor the club’s website. In addition Domino’s will run a variety of competitions at the football side including the Domino’s Cup competition amongst others.

Franchisees at the Domino’s Pizza outlets in Lincoln, Lisa and Andrew Gamwell, say they are pleased to extend their support for their local football club, especially at a time when the club needs the boost following the recent relegation.

Domino’s Pizza is always keen to support its local community with all franchises encouraged to be actively involved in the local causes and clubs within the community in which they’re operating.

Domino’s Pizza workers endure 36 hour shift for charity Tue, 31 May 2011 13:26:49 +0000 Ian Two Domino’s Pizza employees endured a 36 hour long shift over the bank holiday weekend to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.

Lisa Ramage and Peter Halliden started their shift at the Sussex branch of Domino’s Pizza in Crawley at 9am on Friday, finishing a whopping 36 hours later at 9pm on the Saturday night. The epic shift at the pizza takeaway outlet was well worth the effort as the pair estimate they will have raised as much as £2,000 once all of the sponsorship money has been collected.

Despite 36 hours behind the Domino’s Pizza counter with no sleep, the duo were in good spirits when they finally clocked off at 9pm on Saturday evening. However the Domino’s workers were helped along in their mammoth shift by a crate of energy drinks which was donated to help the fundraisers through their task.

Although the fundraising pair did admit to hitting a bit of a lull at 4am when orders slowed down, instead of taking advantage of the quiet time to get a bit of rest, Lisa and Peter started a pizza box making competition between themselves to see who could assemble the most pizza boxes in 3 hours.

After completing their epic shift at the pizza takeaway the fundraisers have been busy counting up their donations, all of which will go to the charity Help for Heroes.

Domino’s Pizza introduces card payments for pizza deliveries in India Wed, 11 May 2011 14:36:38 +0000 Tony Domino’s Pizza has launched a new trial service in India which will allow customers to pay for their pizza delivery orders via credit or debit card. Prior to this, customers had to pay cash upon arrival of the pizza delivery person at their address.

Now Domino’s Pizza fans can order a pizza and pay for it over the phone to save the hassle of running to the cash point, or getting the right change together. Domino’s Pizza say they are committed to using new technology to ensure the most convenient service for their customers in India.

The credit card payments will be taken using the Paymate system, which is the leading provider of mobile payment services in India. The system will be trialled through a number of Domino’s Stores in India to iron out blips before the service is rolled out across the country.

Customers who wish to pay for their Domino’s Pizza delivery over the phone will be transferred to the IVR payment system which allows the customer to provide their credit or debit card details via the secure payment system.

Domino’s in India say that their customer feedback found that card payment for delivery orders was in great demand, and so the leading home pizza delivery company hope the introduction of the new service will enhance customer experience.

The new Domino’s Pizza outlet in Tonypandy was officially opened today by Over the Rainbow star Sophie Evans and Wales rugby captain, Matthew Rees and Wales fullback Morgan Stoddart.

The crowds turned out in their droves to see the three celebrities officially open South Wales’ latest branch of Domino’s Pizza and to enjoy the free slices of freshly made pizza which were handed out by a red welsh dragon, a gorilla, and Danny the Domino’s mascot.

Local girl and West End star, Sophie Evans, cut the ribbon at 1:30pm just in time to announce the new Domino’s Pizza store officially open for the lunch time rush. 18-year-old Sophie admitted while tucking into a Domino’s pizza at the launch that this was her second Domino’s in two days as she’d enjoyed Domino’s Two for Tuesdays offer last night after coming off stage at the London Palladium where she is performing the role of Dorothy on Tuesday evenings in the new West End production of The Wizard of Oz.

Scarlets and Wales rugby players, Matthew Rees and Morgan Stoddart were happy to mingle with the locals who turned out to meet the rugby internationals and to be part of the new store launch. The sportsmen also posed for photos and signed Domino’s Pizza menus and rugby balls as a special memento for those who attended the launch.

The Domino’s Ferrari which features giant pizza graphics and Domino’s logos was also present at the official opening. The Ferrari has been used to promote the new store opening and to demonstrate the branch’s dedication to providing a speedy pizza delivery service (while keeping within speed limits of course!) Sophie Evans was taken for a spin in the Domino’s Ferrari to nearby Porth to deliver a pizza to a special fan – pictures to follow of the moment the West End star surprised a Tonypandy local with a hand delivered pizza!

Domino’s gets set to launch the new Reggae Reggae pizza Thu, 31 Mar 2011 10:30:02 +0000 Tony Leading home pizza delivery company, Domino’s Pizza, are getting ready to launch their special edition Reggae Reggae pizza from this April.

Featuring the original Reggae Reggae Jamaican sauce from musician Levi Roots, the Domino’s Pizza will be available as both a vegetarian and meat option with the latter topped with chicken, tomatoes, green peppers, pineapple and mozzarella.
