With Brits eager to save money ahead of the costly festive season, Domino’s cashed in on customer’s preference to stay in and eat rather than dine out.

Figures released by the leading home <a href="http://www.dominos.co.uk/ourstores/Pontyclun.aspx"title="" >pizza delivery company showed that in the fourth quarter of 2011 and the last 13 weeks leading up to Christmas, Domino’s stores in the UK that have been open for more than 12 months showed a 3.6% increase in like-for-like sales compared to the previous year.

As well as reporting a healthy boost in sales to end the year, Domino’s Pizza also succeeded in expanding its empire further in the UK with the launch of 62 new stores throughout the country and plan to open a similar number in the coming year. This brings the UK’s number of Domino’s Pizza stores to 726 stores in Britain.

Overall comparable sales for the year were up by 3% with Domino’s benefitting further from the economic downturn and the eating habits of the nation as more and more people opt to order a takeaway than dine out at a restaurant. Value for money deals at Domino’s such as the Two for Tuesday offer and Buy One Get One Free deals have also helped the pizza grow revenue.

Domino’s Pizza is planning to further develop its world renowned brand of home delivery pizzas in Australia by opening a further 30 – 40 new stores within the coming 6 months.

The new Domino’s branch openings have been announced off the back of strong sales figures throughout Australia in the last year with the company reporting 20.3% increase in full year net profits.

Domino’s Pizza credits their strong promotional campaigns and the development of new technology such as mobile apps for helping to attract new customers to their brand and also retaining existing customers. The Domino’s Pizza app has been well received throughout its stores internationally as it allows customers to place orders quickly while on the move and also locate their nearest Domino’s Pizza branch with just a few clicks.

The home <a href="http://www.dominos.co.uk/ourstores/Pontyclun.aspx"title="" >pizza delivery expert is planning to open between 30 and 40 brand new branches in both regional and metropolitan areas of Australia over the next six months as Domino’s plans to build on its success in the country over the last year.

In addition to the new store openings, Domino’s Pizza is also planning to refurbish existing stores at a rate of one store a week over the next few months. Many of the current Domino’s stores in Australia are also advertising for extra staff in the run up to Christmas which is a busy time for the industry. The pizza provider revealed earlier this year that they were in need of more delivery drivers and pizza makers in several of their branches.

The news has been welcomed by the club and also its fans as not only has the local Domino’s franchise continued its sponsorship of the football side, it’s increased commercial agreement with Lincoln City. The side was recently relegated to the Blue Square Premiership so Domino’s decision to increase its support for the club will give the football side a great boost.

The Domino’s Pizza franchise will officially sponsor Lincoln Football club tickets, and will continue to provide the mascot on match days, and also sponsor the club’s website. In addition Domino’s will run a variety of competitions at the football side including the Domino’s Cup competition amongst others.

Franchisees at the Domino’s Pizza outlets in Lincoln, Lisa and Andrew Gamwell, say they are pleased to extend their support for their local football club, especially at a time when the club needs the boost following the recent relegation.

Domino’s Pizza is always keen to support its local community with all franchises encouraged to be actively involved in the local causes and clubs within the community in which they’re operating.

The pizza takeaway giant plans to open a new outlet in Llandudno within the coming months. The takeaway branch will be run as a local business and will bring between 25 – 35 jobs to local people in Llandudno.

A site for the new pizza takeaway has not yet been found, however Domino’s is currently exploring a range of different sites across the town before making a decision of where to open the new store.

The mayor of Llandudno has welcomed the news that the global brand will be opening its latest branch in the town, and also the new jobs the store opening will bring to the area. Although the town’s mayor added that he believed the site for the new store should be carefully considered so as to not have a negative impact on similar business in the area.

Domino’s Pizza recently opened another outlet in the nearby town of Bangor in North Wales. The store went down well with locals, and so Domino’s have made the decision to open an outlet in the area, just over 20 miles away in Llandudno.

No opening date for Domino’s Pizza in Llandudno has been revealed as yet. Stay in touch for the latest recruitment news for the new pizza branch in North Wales.

Domino’s Pizza, the pizza delivery expert, has scooped two prestigious online awards in the latest Experian Hitwise UK Top 10 programme. The awards recognise the country’s leading websites.

Domino’s website – www.dominos.co.uk – has been polled as the top site in both the brands and manufacturing and restaurants and catering categories for the food and beverage sector. The pizza delivery expert beat off stiff competition from other top national companies and well known household names to win two awards for 2010.

The annual Experian Hitwise UK Top 10 Awards recognise excellence in online performance through public popularity. Results are based on the internet usage of more than eight million UK internet users across over 160 industry categories. The winners are those who receive the greatest market share of visits throughout 2010. Domino’s received the two awards based on the market share of visits achieved from January to December 2010.

Chris Moore, chief executive of Domino’s Pizza, said: “We launched our ordering website 10 years ago and we’re always looking for innovative ways to continue driving our online traffic. Online orders account for an increasingly large proportion of our business and we work hard to ensure our website allows pizza lovers to order quickly and easily. To win one award is a fantastic achievement, but to scoop two really is the icing on the cake – or the pepperoni on our pizza!”

To visit Domino’s award-winning website and to order a pizza, log on to www.dominos.co.uk. For more information on the awards, visit www.hitwise.com/uk/2010-annual-awards

Domino’s new Smart Slice lunch programme delivers freshly prepared and nutritionally balanced lunches to school in the States. The smart pizza slices are made with reduced fat and sodium pizza dough in order to offer the healthiest option to pupils. The pizza meets all nutritional guidelines for food served to pupils in American schools.

The pizza giant says they aim to offer a “new approach” to school dinners after they found that 93% of American schools serve frozen pizza in their canteens, but only 1 in 4 youngsters said they actually thought it tasted any good. Domino’s decided they could do much better, and so the smart slice lunch scheme was born.

Domino’s is currently serving its healthy pizza slices to 120 school in the US but hopes to double the number of schools it delivers to within the next 12 months.

The pizza experts also offer the opportunity for schools to tailor their pizza toppings so as to appeal to their pupils’ taste buds, while at the same time offering a freshly prepared product which not only meets, but in many cases, exceed the national recommended nutritional guidelines.

First and foremost, we’ll be looking for people who can deliver great customer service and demonstrate strong teamwork skills, as well as boundless enthusiasm. It’s also vital to be able to maintain a sense of fun while working under pressure.”

Mike Racz from Hartlepool is an award-winning franchisee having received an Acorn Award for services to catering and hospitality earlier this year which will stand him in great stead for his new venture with Domino’s Pizza in Middlesbrough.

Local student wins tasty prize in Stuff for Students competition.

Local Hereford Sixth Form College student Ayla-Louise Clingo has placed a tall order with <a href="http://www.dominos.co.uk/ourstores/Pontyclun.aspx"title="" >pizza delivery company Domino’s <http://www.dominos.co.uk/> , after winning a Stuff for Students competition to scoop her height in pizza.

Ayla’s 5ft 1′ frame has won her a whopping 31 freshly made, piping hot pizzas from the Domino’s store on Belmont Road, Hereford. The ‘height in pizzas’ prize was donated by Domino’s as part of its sponsorship of the recent Stuff for Students fair. Stuff for Students was held by Hereford College of Arts, Herefordshire College of Technology and Hereford Sixth Form College for new students who joined this term.

Winner Ayla said: “I couldn’t believe it when I heard I’d won and scooped all these pizzas. I’m a bit partial to a Tandoori Hot and this tasty prize will give me a great opportunity to enjoy a brilliant pizza party (or two!) with my friends and family.”

Arvi Salariya, franchisee of Domino’s Hereford, said: “We are delighted to support the local colleges and were very pleased to sponsor the annual Stuff for Students event to help get students set up for the new academic year. We wondered if the winner might wear tall stilettos to try to claim a few extra slices but Ayla was very honest and came to the store to collect her prize in flat shoes!”

For more information on <a href="http://www.pizzanews.co.uk/category/dominos-pizza-news/"title="" >Domino’s Pizza, pop into the store at 109-111 Belmont Road, Hereford HR2 7JR or call 01432 275511.
