Pizza Express has offered a helping hand to the charity Oxfam in the run-up to Christmas.

The joint venture between the pizza giant and the charity was launched at the end of last month with a special cooking event in London.

Top Pizza Express chef Klebson Scardua created a temporary kitchen in the window of an Oxfam shop on High Street Kensington, London. The pizza making event helped raise awareness of Pizza Express and Oxfam’s partnership and ensured the fundraising scheme was launched in style.

Pizza Express are aiming to raise £150,000 for Oxfam over the coming months through a special incentive. Every customers who spends £5 in an Oxfam shop, between now and January 2011, will receive a voucher for use in any Pizza Express restaurant which will entitle them to £5 off their bill.

It is hoped the special incentive will encourage more people to pay a visit to an Oxfam shop when they embark on their Christmas shopping this year. With the added bonus of getting £5 off at Pizza Express, we’re sure many people will be paying the charity shop a visit for a few stocking fillers in the lead up to the festive season.

As well as attempting to raise £150,000 for Oxfam, Pizza Express will also donate £6,000 to the charity to buy goats which will be donated to people in need in third world countries.
