A man from Wakefield was left with a bad taste in his mouth after biting into a pizza from Iceland only to discover a 1 inch long screw concealed amongst the toppings.

Anthony Krievens had purchased the frozen pizza from his local Iceland store in Kirkgate the previous day while out on a shopping trip with his wife. However the 43-year-old was shocked when he discovered the foreign body in the thin and crispy double pepperoni pizza when he tucked into the pizza the following day before heading out to work.

Mr Krievens expressed concern in a recent interview with his local paper that the metal screw could have caused him serious harm, and if a child had eaten the pizza, the situation could have been much worse. Luckily, Mr Krievens realised there was something amiss as soon as he tucked into the pizza as he bit down on the hard object, before spitting the 1 inch long nail out.

43-year-old Anthony complained to the Iceland store where he’d bought the pizza the very next day. The store has since issued an apology after the foreign body was found on the pepperoni pizza.

The official word from Iceland is that the matter will be fully investigated in order to determine how exactly the screw came into contact with the pizza.
