Gluten Free all the way

They are all catching on, like Dominoes

Since big brand names Dominoes and Pizza Express have gained accreditation from Coeliac UK, the national charity for people with coeliac disease, everybody wants a slice. The Gluten Free word spreaders posses an agenda to teach dining establishments throughout the UK to follow in the footsteps of such large pizza pioneers. Coeliac UK provide in house training and celebrate in the food chains that posses a care for those with dietary requirements and special meal needs.

Harrods Department Store is amongst the newly accredited establishments. Their Georgian Restaurant now offers a gluten free afternoon tea. Following in-house training by Coeliac UK, the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon also makes an extensive range of gluten-free dishes including sandwiches, hot food and soups.

Gluten Free foods are taking the world by storm and can be located throughout the food market and dining establishments. This influx of awareness has arguably been a knock on effect, with a diverse and stretched range of spots now offering coeliac friendly option or entire menu.

Cutting gluten out of the diet has become a popular trend with many partaking on this eating path voluntarily.  Many can see the health benefits illustrated by pushing gluten foods aside.

Pizza News spoke with Sarah Sleet, Chief Executive of Coeliac UK, she said: “We are delighted that many catering establishments, including a number of pizza restaurants, have gained full gluten-free (GF) accreditation from Coeliac UK. Our services are opening the door to the gluten-free consumer and, at the same time, addressing the issue of finding safe food outside of the home – the top concern of people with coeliac disease – which will enable those with the condition to be included better in hospitality. Pizza had been missed by many who have to follow a gluten-free diet and the moves by a number of high street chain to take out our accreditation has put the dish back on the menu for many.”

This is great news for us as pizza is available to the masses; no matter what requirements they hay employ.
