As with all worldwide pizza franchises, the toppings and pizzas vary from country to country as the takeaway provider aims to cater for the tastes of the pizza buying public in that particulate nation. However the truly unusual and sometimes mind boggling pizza combinations created in <a href="http://www.pizzanews.co.uk/category/pizza-hut-news/"title="" >Pizza Huts around the world are really something to behold: imagine a fish and chips topped pizza or a pizza consisting of a cheese burger crust? That’s exactly what you’ll find on the menu of certain Pizza Huts around the globe, let’s take a closer look…

Pizza Hut customers in the Middle East can enjoy a double whammy of a pizza which also doubles as a giant cheeseburger. The Crown Crust Cheeseburger, which is accompanied with the tagline, “Fit for a King” as the miniature cheeseburgers which make up the crust give the pizza an appearance of a giant crown, is the ultimate burger and cheese fest. In Indonesia they have a decidedly British take on the pizza and enjoy a fish and chips topped Pizza Hut offering.

The Koreans also like a fishy topping on their pizzas, with pizza lovers tucking into coconut shrimp topped pizza while Pizza Hut in India boasts the Full Punjabi pizza, although the ingredients on top of this particular pizza are not too apparent – more a Punjabi surprise pizza in that case.

Have you tried any of the pizzas in mentioned above? Or do you have your own story on a bizarre pizza topping you’ve sampled? Let us know by dropping us a comment in the box below.

Domino’s have successfully obtained permission for change of use for a former Italian restaurant which will become the site for the new branch of Domino’s. Work has already begun on transforming the former eatery into a takeaway outlet with a new shop front and kitchen area being constructed to facilitate the site’s change of use.

With construction work on the new site already underway, Domino’s plan to have the new franchise up and running by early summer. News on the available vacancies at the new Domino’s franchise, including managerial positions, pizza making vacancies and pizza delivery driver jobs, will be advertised along with information on how to apply in the coming weeks.

Domino’s say that all of their franchisees work hard to be “responsible neighbours” in the communities they operate within, with most taking an active role in the community supporting local projects, charities and events. The leading home pizza delivery provider now boasts a staggering 726 outlets in the UK and Ireland with number of new sites earmarked for new stores in the coming year.

A Domino’s Pizza franchisee from Surrey will be jetting off to Las Vegas in May to defend his title of the World’s Fastest Pizza Maker. Pali Grewal, who won the title back in 2010 in Las Vegas as part of the biennial Domino’s event, says he’s been spending as much time as possible in the kitchen at his Domino’s store in Surrey getting in practice ahead of the competition in the States in just a few week’s time.

Back in 2010 when Pali Grewal won the title, he also set a new world record for pizza making and made history by becoming the first entrant from the UK to win the Domino’s title. The Surrey based franchisee succeeded in making three large pizzas in just 39.1 seconds, that’s 13 seconds per pizza which is lightning fast!

The competition attracts pizza makers from across the world and Pali will be pitting himself against the very best when he flies out to Vegas next month to defend his title.

The competition rules state that each contestant is required to hand stretch fresh dough to make three large bases, then top with sauce and three different toppings, one must be pepperoni topped, another must be topped with mushrooms and the third must have a cheese topping. While it is all about speed, presentation is also important as any pizzas which do not meet the strict guidelines on Domino’s Pizza presentation will be disqualified.

From all at <a href="http://www.pizzanews.co.uk/"title="" >Pizza News, good luck to Pali Grewal in Vegas, we hope you bring the title home for a second time!

Takeaway giant, Burger King, have unveiled a brand new desert for their menu; the bacon ice cream sundae. The new product is currently only available at Burger King outlets in Nashville Tennessee where the sweet and savoury desert is being trialled amongst its customers.

Fast food providers are pulling out all the stops to outdo one another with increasingly outlandish and wacky addition to their menus. Earlier this week we reported on how <a href="http://www.pizzanews.co.uk/category/pizza-hut-news/"title="" >Pizza Hut has just launched the new hot dog stuffed crust pizza in the UK at an eye-watering 270 calories a slice.

Now Burger King is upping the stakes in the fast food market by introducing the bacon ice cream sundae. The desert, priced at $2.49, features vanilla ice cream intertwined with fudge sauce topped off with salty pieces of crispy cooked bacon. Burger King will gauge the response to the new savoury and sweet sundae from their trial at their stores in Nashville over the coming weeks.

Burger King, which is currently ranked as the third biggest burger chain in the world behind McDonalds and Wendy’s, revealed plans recently to introduce a number of new dishes to their menu including the bacon sundae, also strawberry and banana smoothies, Caesar salads and sweet potato fries.

While Burger King’s bacon sundae may be grabbing the headlines this week, technically they’re not the first food provider to offer bacon in a desert form. Celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal famously had added a bacon and egg ice cream to his restaurant menu, while Jack in the Box have included a bacon milkshake to their menu.

Red Tomato Pizza restaurant and takeaway have been handing out VIP fridge magnets to their loyal customers so they can have their favourite pizzas delivered by simply hitting the magnet.

The new fridge magnet pizza gadget has proved so popular with Red Tomato customers in the UAE that the pizza takeaway has run out of magnets, although they are planning to have a new batch ready to give away within the coming weeks.

The pizza box shaped fridge magnet will be pre-set with each particular customer’s favoured pizza order. The magnet gadget connects to the internet via a Bluetooth connection from the customer’s smartphone, allowing the customer’s pre-set order to be sent online to the takeaway. The pizza takeaway then sends a confirmation text to the customer, with the pizza being delivered shortly afterwards. The Red Tomato pizza takeaway aims to deliver all orders within an hour.

Those in possession of a VIP fridge magnet can update their pizza preferences at any time. A special YouTube promotional video has been launched to celebrate the introduction of the new push button pizza magnet showing just how easy it is to order a takeaway pizza for VIP customers.

If you live in Dubai, or perhaps you’re planning a visit there soon, be sure to try out the new pizza takeaway fridge magnet and let us know how you get on.

Never again will UK fast food fans be faced with a dilemma over whether to opt for a pizza or a hot dog takeaway thanks to a brand new invention from <a href="http://www.pizzanews.co.uk/category/pizza-hut-news/"title="" >Pizza Hut. The leading pizza restaurant and delivery provider has launched the hot dog stuffed crust pizza in the UK offering indecisive foodies the chance to combine two favourites in one dish.

While you might assume this hotdog/pizza combination must be an American invention, you would actually be wrong; in fact the new Pizza Hut hot dog stuffed crust isn’t even available in the States yet. Surprisingly, the sausage stuffed pizza has been available in Thailand and Japan where it was first introduced on the company’s menu back in 2007.

If you’re not yet sold on the idea, Pizza Hut have made the new stuffed crust sound as appealing as possible in their menu write-up describing the new crust pizza as “succulent hot dog sausage bursting from our famous stuffed crust, with a FREE mustard drizzle.”

We’ve had the pizza crust stuffed with cheese, BBQ sauce and even the garlic bread stuffed crust, but will the new hot dog pizza crust trump them all to become the ultimate pizza combination? The new addition to the Pizza Hit menu is due to receive its debut in the UK this week so what are you waiting for? Give it a try and let us know your thoughts on the brand new stuffed crust creation.

It’s understood the 54-year-old actress is holidaying in Italy with her two young sons, 5-year-old Quinn and 6-year-old Laird.

The blonde actress was photographed looking relaxed as she served up pizzas to her two sons wearing an apron and chef’s hat. Whether this turn as a pizza chef is research for an upcoming film remains to be seen, however the more likely explanation is that the actress was learning how to cook a traditional Italian pizzas from the chefs at the ll Corallo restaurant in Rome.

Sharon Stone looked relaxed and dressed down wearing just a simple grey t-shirt and black trousers, although the actress renowned for her good looks, didn’t completely neglect the glamour during her pizza making master class, opting to wear a dash of bright red lipstick.

After slaving over a hot pizza oven, 54-year-old Sharon emerged from the kitchen with two pizzas which she shared with her two young sons. The ll Corallo restaurant in Rome is renowned for its pizza and pasta dishes and it seems the Hollywood actress was enjoying getting some tips from the professionals at the traditional Italian eatery.

Pizza restaurant chain, Prezzo, has unveiled its plans to reignite its plans for expansions following a rise in profits of 14% for the previous year. The popular restaurant chain, which specialises in pizza and pasta dishes, shelved their previous expansion plans in 2009 as a result of the economic downturn.

After posting an impressive 14% increase in profits, £16.4 million in underlying profits, in the last year until January 1st 2012, it’s full steam ahead with plans to develop the pizza restaurant chain further. The brand plans to open 20 new restaurants over the next year alone, creating in the region of 350 new jobs.

Last year saw Prezzo increase its menu prices slightly to redress the balance of increasing utilities and wage bills. As the company’s profits show, this rise in restaurants prices hasn’t had a negative impact on the brand.

The Prezzo restaurant chain benefitted from strong trading in the last quarter of 2011 and profits were also boosted thanks to the opening of 27 new eateries in the last 12 months. The total number of restaurants now stands at 189, with Prezzo outlining plans to open a further 20 restaurants in the coming year. Bristol, Cobham and Bath have all been earmarked as potential sites for new pizza restaurants.

In addition to the successful range of pizza and pasta restaurants, the chain is also planning to further develop its growing brand of Tex-Mex restaurants known as Chimichanga, with plans for another restaurant in this portfolio to open in 2012 bringing its total number of Chimichanga restaurants to 20.

With 11 Domino’s Pizza outlets based throughout the Lothians and Fife under his belt, including the largest Domino’s Pizza branch in Scotland, Sean Geddes, is taking his wealth of experience as successful Domino’s franchisee over to Europe where he plans to open three stores in the next year.

The Domino’s entrepreneur has been spending three to four days out of every fortnight over in Germany as he prepares for the launch of his first Domino’s in the country, due to be open for business in May.

The first outlet will be opened in Aachen which is close to the Belgium and Dutch border where Domino’s is already established as a brand. The launch of the Aagen Domino’s will mark the <a href="http://www.dominos.co.uk/ourstores/Pontyclun.aspx"title="" >pizza delivery giant’s first move into Germany.

After the Aagen Domino’s is up and running, the Scottish businessman won’t be resting on his laurels, instead Mr Geddes revealed in an interview with a Scottish newspaper this week that he will open another Domino’s in Cologne in August and a third Domino’s franchise in Germany, this time in Hogmanay, by the end of the year.

Gordon Penman, who also happens to hold the title of Scotland’s Fastest Pizza Maker, will oversee the German expansion of Sean Geddes’s Domino’s stores. Penman previously managed the busiest branch of Domino’s Pizza in Edinburgh so his expertise will come in very useful with the move over to Germany.

The pizza takeaway and restaurant giant will facilitate this expansion with the use of franchisees who will run new outlets in selected parts of Canada.

To help attract more potential franchisees to the brand, Pizza Hut have given their franchise system a revamp. The introduction of smaller operating bases with less square footage is one way Pizza Hut hope to help reduce operating costs for new investors, and also the introduction of faster equipment and new products including pasta dishes and chicken wings which the pizza provider anticipates will help attract new customers, increase order values which will lead to increased overall profits.

Pizza Hut, which is part of the Yum! brand, is currently operates 300 <a href="http://www.dominos.co.uk/ourstores/Pontyclun.aspx"title="" >pizza delivery and eat-in restaurants throughout Canada, however the growing pizza giant is actively seeking franchisees in the region as they aim to open a further 100 branches in the next five years. Although the projection is ambitious, Pizza Hut bosses say recruiting an extra 100 stores within 5 years is completely obtainable.

To become a Pizza Hut franchisee as part of the brand’s expansion in Canada, there is a minimum cash requirement of $150,000 and potential investors must have assets of at least $500,000 in order to be considered for a franchisee opportunity.
