This week, Pali Grewal, a multi Domino’s Pizza store franchisee from Surrey was crowned the World’s Fastest Pizza Maker 2010.

The final saw competitors pour in from all over the world, many travelling from as far afield as Malaysia to take part in the grand final which was held in Las Vegas. However there could only be one winner, and this year Mr Grewal clinched the title making an impressive 3 large pizzas in 39.1 seconds which works out as one pizza in just over 13 seconds.

Being a speedy pizza maker is only part of the talent required to win this coveted award as each pizza is inspected by a panel of judges to ensure it meets with the high standard of food presentation which Domino’s Pizza prides itself on. The application of the sauce, portion control and shape of the pizza were all scrutinised by the tough judges, if any pizza fell below their high standards, it was sent back to be corrected.

Each competitor was required to hand stretch fresh dough to create the base, top with sauce and a different topping on each, one with cheese, another with pepperoni, and another with mushroom.

After a nail biting final, Mr Grewal, who has worked with Domino’s Pizza for 18 years, emerged triumphant. The winner was awarded a prize of $3,000 and also a trophy presented by Domino’s Pizza President and CEO, J. Patrick Doyle.

Domino’s, the local pizza delivery expert, is set to create around 30 full and part-time jobs when its new Pontyclun store opens in autumn 2010.

Planning permission has just been granted on appeal for the store on Cowbridge Road, bringing with it a welcome employment boost for the area.

Domino’s Pizza will be recruiting within the community for trainee managers, trainee pizza makers, customer service representatives and delivery experts.

The franchisee for the new Pontyclun store is local young business man, Tej Randeva, aged 30 from Llantrisant,

Tej Randeva, franchisee of the new Domino’s store said; “It’s been a long time coming but I am absolutely delighted we now have the go ahead for our new store in Pontyclun. I’m disappointed we had to go to appeal for approval, but we got the decision we wanted in the end and I just can’t wait to get my new team onboard. We are looking to employ people who live in the community that we’ll be serving. First and foremost, we’ll be looking for people who can deliver great customer service and demonstrate strong teamwork skills, as well as boundless enthusiasm. It’s also vital to be able to maintain a sense of fun while working under pressure.”

Domino’s Pizza believes in opportunities for all. The company is an Age Positive Employer Champion, which means that it has been recognised for its commitment to welcoming applicants of all ages. Domino’s will be recruiting on the basis of ability and, as many team members go on to management positions in under two years, this recruitment drive is a fantastic opportunity for jobseekers in Pontyclun.

At induction, as well as throughout their career, Domino’s offers its employees full training, ranging from dough management and food hygiene for pizza makers through to road safety for pizza delivery experts. Domino’s always recruits from the surrounding area and, with an additional focus on developing strong community links, aims to deliver more than just great tasting pizza. In particular, Domino’s supports Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB) on both a national and local level. SOGB provides people with learning disabilities opportunities to take part in year-round sports training and competition.

The new store is set to open in autumn 2010 and is located at Unit 2, 36 Cowbridge Road, Pontyclun CF72 9EE

Details of how to apply for jobs at Domino’s in Pontyclun will soon be available on the new store’s website –

SHOW STOPPING TOPPINGS -

DOMINO’S LAUNCHES OFFICIAL BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT PIZZA

T o celebrate the third year of its Britain’s Got Talent sponsorship,
pizza delivery expert, Domino’s Pizza, has launched a new pizza
created especially for this year’s series of the top ITV show.

Mexican Sizzler

The official Britain’s Got Talent pizza – the Mexican Sizzler – was
designed by 21 year old Emma Johnston from Glasgow as part of a
national competition Domino’s ran last year. Domino’s received 38,000
entries from budding pizza designers and the top three toppings were
put to the public vote.

Almost 30,000 votes were cast and Emma was crowned the winner for her
spicy combination of chicken fajita slices, crunchy tortillas, green
peppers, red peppers and jalapenos on Domino’s classic fresh dough
base with vine-ripened tomato sauce and 100% mozzarella. Emma scooped
£10,000 for her top topping and the Mexican Sizzler goes on sale today
[April 19, 2010], as the official pizza for this year’s Britain’s Got
Talent.

Robin Auld, sales and marketing director of Domino’s Pizza, said: “We
were staggered by the country’s talent for designing pizza in our
competition. Emma’s Mexican Sizzler really caught the eye (and
stomach!) of the nation and we’re delighted to launch it on our menu
in time for the new series. What better way to watch than with an
official Britain’s Got Talent pizza?”

The Mexican Sizzler – the official Britain’s Got Talent pizza – is on
sale in Domino’s stores across the country, for a limited period. To
grab a slice of the action, call Domino’s national hotline 087
12121212, order online at www.dominos.co.uk or visit your local store.

Domino’s Pizza have launched an online advertising campaign which is claimed to be a world first of its kind.

The clever system allows Facebook users who upload the Domino’s Pizza advert to their page to earn cash form it. Each time one of their friends clicks on the icon to place an order, they will earn money from that sale.

Domino’s say that the Facebook user will receive 0.5% revenue from the value of the order placed. The more friends that click on the application, the more money they take in, plus there’s absolutely no limit to the amount you can earn.

Dan Clays from digital agency BLM Quantum who developed the application for Domino’s says brands are looking more and more towards the possibility of utilising social networking sites to push their products. Although Domino’s is the first to launch the Facebook campaign, according to Mr Clays, there are many other brands that are looking to develop something similar.

Getting involved in the Domino’s campaign couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is sign up to a secure dashboard which will record your sales, and download the Domino’s tool to your page. Security is high on the Domino’s list of priorities so the system is very safe. No information will be taken from a user’s page, the only information held by Domino’s will be the details you give when you sign up.

So what are you waiting for? Start earning cash rewards right now with Domino’s Pizza and Facebook.

A brand new Domino’s Pizza outlet could be set for Pontyclun, Llantrisant, providing it gets the green light from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.

The introduction of the new Domino’s Pizza store would bring a huge boost to the Pontyclun area along with creation of 30 jobs for local people.

The council will consider the proposal on March 11th. However Domino’s are positive that the potential to create so many jobs for local workers will weigh heavily in their favour.

Should permission be granted for the franchise, two store managers jobs would be created, long with 28 other positions ranging from delivery driver, customer service operators, and trainee pizza makers. Domino’s has a fantastic track record for offering opportunities to ambitious individuals with many employees working their way up the ranks and gaining a managerial position within two years.

South Wales based businessman, Tej Randeva, is the proposed franchisee for the new venture. Tej has considerable experience in the business arena and currently runs a limousine brokerage company, Limo Broker, and a coach hire brokerage company, Coach Broker, from his base in Cardiff Bay. The 29-year-old also picked up the award for Fastest Growing Business in 2003 for his brand of insurance brokers in South Wales.

A spokesperson for Domino’s Pizza said they are very excited about the new venture and hope to bring locals jobs, and delicious pizza, to the Pontyclun area in the very near future.

Local pizza lover, Emma Johnston from Glasgow, has received an early Christmas present, scooping £10,000 as the winner of a national Domino’s Pizza competition.

Emma has just been announced as the winner of the competition to find the next official Britain’s Got Talent pizza. The contest ran as part of Domino’s sponsorship of the top TV show and invited pizza lovers to send in their ideas for a new addition to Domino’s menu. Emma and two other finalists were chosen from the 38,000 entries received and their three pizza ideas put up for the public vote.

Emma’s Mexican Sizzler pizza caught the eye (and stomach!) of the nation with its spicy combination of chicken fajita slices, crunchy tortillas, green peppers, red peppers and jalapenos on Domino’s classic base with vine-ripened tomato sauce and 100% real mozzarella cheese. The Mexican Sizzler beat off a British Breakfast pizza from Newhaven and an Asian Feast from Gateshead to scoop the top spot.

Emma Johnston said: “I am absolutely staggered to have won. It was such a surprise to get the call saying my pizza had been voted the winner – it took a few minutes to sink in and then I was just screaming with excitement! As a student, I’m currently having to work five days a week to pay for my studies and recently had to move back in with my parents to save on rent. The prize money is really going to help me get set up on my own and hopefully have a lovely holiday too. It’s pretty simple but this is going to make me very happy – that and the ultimate accolade of having my pizza sold in Domino’s stores across the UK!”

The new Mexican Sizzler will be on sale at Domino’s next year. Keep checking in-store for more details.

24-year-old Leigh Coggins has spent 6 years waitressing in Pizza Hut, but finally the aspiring musical star has been served the break she’s been waiting for.

Leigh, who has previously served tables in a number of Pizza Hut restaurants including the Bridgend outlet, McArthurglen and Stratford over the past 6 years, was plucked from thousands of hopefuls to become the understudy for the female lead in the UK tour of the world famous musical, Les Miserables.

The former Pizza Hut waitress descried the moment she received the good news: “I was on my way home from work when I found out I’d got the part – I cried my eyes out on the Tube and everyone was laughing at me!”

The talented soprano only graduated from The Guildhall School Of Music and Drama this summer and has wasted no time in lining up her first major role. Taking on the part of the male lead in the touring musical production is Gareth Gates. Talking about working with the Pop Idol runner up Leigh said, “Gareth is lovely,” she added, “I’ve never met someone so genuine in all my life and we’re close in age so we get along really well.”

Pizza Hut will have to manage without one of its experienced waitresses for a while as the production will be touring the UK until May 2010. The show is currently playing at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff until January 16th.

Lady Gaga treated her loyal fans to $1,000 worth of pizza courtesy of Papa Johns this week. The wacky singer decided to reward her followers, who had queued for hours outside a record store in the US where she was signing copies of her new album, by giving away free pizza.

Hundreds of Gaga fans descended upon the Best Buy store in Los Angeles to get their copy of the new album, The Fame Monster, signed by the Lady herself. The singer also hit the headlines this week, not unusually, for her outrageous choice of costume for her album signing tour. Taking the current trend for 80’s style shoulder pads to great heights, Gaga sported a black blazer with should pads which reached her ear lobes.

Gaga devotees had a happy wait for their idol outside the record store in LA as 80 cheese pizzas were delivered throughout the day courtesy of Papa Johns. The free pizza certainly helped to keep the crowd in good spirits as they waited patiently. Writing on her Twitter account, Lady Gaga posted this message: “Sending all my little monsters little pizzas for waiting all night for me at best buy. I hope you’re hungry…eat up I love u!”

The inside word from the Papa Johns outlet which served Lady Gaga is that she tips “very, very well.”
