Domino’s Pizza have attributed much of their recent success and increased sale figures to their online platforms and while the world’s leading home pizza delivery company has enjoyed great success through its Facebook marketing strategies, the company is now looking to concentrate its efforts on Twitter to encourage this side of its social media marketing to catch up with Facebook.

While Domino’s have successfully harnessed the power of Facebook to nurture customer loyalty and raise awareness of new products and offers, the Twitter side of their online marketing has yet to be as effective with Domino’s current number of Facebook fans standing at 400,000, compared to just 20,000 on Twitter.

Despite having significantly fewer fans to target on Twitter, Domino’s say the response of its followers on the social network is much higher than the response rate on Facebook. The pizza experts have taken this as a very encouraging sign and believe that Twitter holds untapped potential, something which they plan to explore further in the coming year.

In the last year, Domino’s have used their Facebook profile to offer fans the chance to sample new products before the official release, and to provide exclusive discounts and deals which has contributed to the pizza takeaway chain’s healthy sales figures.

As well as continuing to develop their social media arm in 2012, Domino’s Pizza are also believed to be considering the possibility of introducing mobile payment facilities which would allow customers to pay for their pizza orders direct from their phone bills or via a connected credit account.
