We reported earlier this year on Pizza News that Domino’s Pizza franchisee, Pali Grewal from Surrey, was training hard to ensure he was at the top of his game ready for the pizza making event held every other year by Domino’s in Las Vegas. Well, it appears the hard work more than paid off as we’re delighted to report that Pali retained the coveted fastest pizza maker title and remains the reigning champion.

The Surrey based Domino’s store franchisee, who’s been making pizzas since the age of 13, powered through the competition in Las Vegas where he beat off competitors from across the globe to win the title. Pali succeeded in creating the three large pizzas in just 43.9 seconds, that’s just 14 seconds per pizza!

The competitors had to make three large pizzas from scratch in the fastest time, one topped with pepperoni, one with cheese and a third with mushrooms. Each pizza needed to feature a hand stretched pizza base, sauce and the required topping. Any pizza which fell below the expected standard of presentation would be sent back to the competitor who would have to complete another pizza with the clock still running.

Speaking after the win, Pali said he was “elated” to have retained his title of World’s Fastest Pizza Maker which he first won back in 2010 at the biennial Domino’s event in Las Vegas.

As part of his prize, Pali was awarded the coveted trophy by Domino’s CEO, Patrick Doyle, and was also handed $3,000 as part of the prize – not bad for 43.9 second’s work!

Thanks a lot for this. Locating great franchising details is pretty hard, so it’s nice to be able to share this with people that are into franchising or are checking the waters.
