Domino’s, the local pizza delivery expert, is set to create around 30 full and part-time jobs when its new Pontyclun store opens in autumn 2010.

Planning permission has just been granted on appeal for the store on Cowbridge Road, bringing with it a welcome employment boost for the area.

Domino’s Pizza will be recruiting within the community for trainee managers, trainee pizza makers, customer service representatives and delivery experts.

The franchisee for the new Pontyclun store is local young business man, Tej Randeva, aged 30 from Llantrisant,

Tej Randeva, franchisee of the new Domino’s store said; “It’s been a long time coming but I am absolutely delighted we now have the go ahead for our new store in Pontyclun. I’m disappointed we had to go to appeal for approval, but we got the decision we wanted in the end and I just can’t wait to get my new team onboard. We are looking to employ people who live in the community that we’ll be serving. First and foremost, we’ll be looking for people who can deliver great customer service and demonstrate strong teamwork skills, as well as boundless enthusiasm. It’s also vital to be able to maintain a sense of fun while working under pressure.”

Stavros Flatley helped open the 600th Dominos store

Pizza delivery expert, Domino’s Pizza has officially opened its 600th store. Located in High Holborn, the 600th store is a significant milestone in Domino’s ongoing expansion plans.

The store was officially opened on Thursday [December 10, 2009] by Chris Moore, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Domino’s Pizza UK & Ireland. Entertainment was provided by Britain’s Got Talent dance sensation Stavros Flatley, who performed in front of the crowd of pizza fans and shoppers gathered outside the store. London Town Crier, Peter Moore, was also on hand to announce the news, plus stilt walkers and magicians took to the streets with company mascot Danny Domino to hand out free pizza.

Chris Moore, CEO of Domino’s Pizza, said: “I am absolutely delighted to open our 600th store, which is a testament to the hard work, dedication and pure passion for great pizza of all our franchisees and their in-store teams. The 600th store is not only fantastic news for us, but it’s also brilliant for pizza lovers in the Capital – now they can be sure they’re never too far from a Pepperoni Passion!”

Lincoln store is looking for workers

Local pizza lover, Emma Johnston from Glasgow, has been chosen as a finalist in a national competition run by Domino’s Pizza. Emma now stands a chance of winning £10,000 for her entry in Domino’s competition to find the next official Britain’s Got Talent pizza as part of the company’s sponsorship of the top TV show.

Emma’s Mexican Sizzler pizza was chosen from over 38,000 entries. Her pizza caught the judge’s eye with its spicy combination of chicken fajita slices, crunchy tortillas, green peppers, red peppers and jalapenos on Domino’s classic base with vine-ripened tomato sauce and 100% real mozzarella cheese. The Mexican Sizzler is now up for the public vote at www.dominos.co.uk/vote, battling against a British Breakfast from Newhaven and an Asian Feast from Gateshead. Not only will the winner scoop £10,000 – their pizza will also be sold in Domino’s stores nationwide as the 2010 official Britain’s Got Talent pizza.

Emma Johnston said: “It was such a surprise to find out my entry had been chosen as a finalist. I’m a massive Domino’s fan so I’m really proud to have my idea in the final three. Winning £10,000 would be fantastic – I’m a student at the moment and having to work five days a week to pay for my studies so the prize money would be a great help towards this. The 40-year-old, who only gave birth to twins Max and Emme in February, looked every inch the star as she showed off her famous curves in a figure-hugging black dress. Although the Wedding Planner actress enjoyed a slice or two of pizza during a break in shooting, the health conscious star did opt for a low-calorie topping of mixed peppers with only a smattering of cheese on her pizza.

Reports claim that Jennifer worked hard to regain her pre-baby figure and embarked on a rigorous triathlon training schedule to help shift the extra pounds. Triathlon is a notoriously tough exercise regime and consists of swimming, cycling and running exercises all performed in immediate succession.

It is refreshing to see a celebrity enjoying her food for a change and Jennifer Lopez should be applauded for her sensible attitude towards eating. Dominos have launched their Pizza progress tracker in the UK

The new project was launched in the UK last week and aims to provide customers with a more convenient and hassle-free means by which to order home delivered pizza.

The new Pizza Tracker hit Domino’s outlets in the UK last week at the same time the company were celebrating 10 years of online pizza orders. During these 10 successful years Domino’s has been at the forefront of developments and improvements to the online ordering system.

With more and more people opting to place their order using Domino’s fast and efficient online service, last year the company recorded £55.9 million worth of sales from its internet based service alone, plus 27% of Domino’s total pizza sales comes from this source.

The Pizza Tracker has already been successfully integrated into the Domino’s Pizza experience in the US as the system was introduced there back in January 2008.
