Domino’s, the local pizza delivery expert, is set to create around 30 full and part-time jobs when its new Pontyclun store opens in autumn 2010.

Planning permission has just been granted on appeal for the store on Cowbridge Road, bringing with it a welcome employment boost for the area.

Domino’s Pizza will be recruiting within the community for trainee managers, trainee pizza makers, customer service representatives and delivery experts.

The franchisee for the new Pontyclun store is local young business man, Tej Randeva, aged 30 from Llantrisant,

Tej Randeva, franchisee of the new Domino’s store said; “It’s been a long time coming but I am absolutely delighted we now have the go ahead for our new store in Pontyclun. I’m disappointed we had to go to appeal for approval, but we got the decision we wanted in the end and I just can’t wait to get my new team onboard. We are looking to employ people who live in the community that we’ll be serving. First and foremost, we’ll be looking for people who can deliver great customer service and demonstrate strong teamwork skills, as well as boundless enthusiasm. It’s also vital to be able to maintain a sense of fun while working under pressure.”

Domino’s Pizza believes in opportunities for all. The company is an Age Positive Employer Champion, which means that it has been recognised for its commitment to welcoming applicants of all ages. Domino’s will be recruiting on the basis of ability and, as many team members go on to management positions in under two years, this recruitment drive is a fantastic opportunity for jobseekers in Pontyclun.

At induction, as well as throughout their career, Domino’s offers its employees full training, ranging from dough management and food hygiene for pizza makers through to road safety for pizza delivery experts. Domino’s always recruits from the surrounding area and, with an additional focus on developing strong community links, aims to deliver more than just great tasting pizza. In particular, Domino’s supports Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB) on both a national and local level. SOGB provides people with learning disabilities opportunities to take part in year-round sports training and competition.

The new store is set to open in autumn 2010 and is located at Unit 2, 36 Cowbridge Road, Pontyclun CF72 9EE

Details of how to apply for jobs at Domino’s in Pontyclun will soon be available on the new store’s website –

Emma’s Mexican Sizzler pizza was chosen from over 38,000 entries. Her pizza caught the judge’s eye with its spicy combination of chicken fajita slices, crunchy tortillas, green peppers, red peppers and jalapenos on Domino’s classic base with vine-ripened tomato sauce and 100% real mozzarella cheese. The Mexican Sizzler is now up for the public vote at www.dominos.co.uk/vote, battling against a British Breakfast from Newhaven and an Asian Feast from Gateshead. Not only will the winner scoop £10,000 – their pizza will also be sold in Domino’s stores nationwide as the 2010 official Britain’s Got Talent pizza.

Emma Johnston said: “It was such a surprise to find out my entry had been chosen as a finalist. I’m a massive Domino’s fan so I’m really proud to have my idea in the final three. Winning £10,000 would be fantastic – I’m a student at the moment and having to work five days a week to pay for my studies so the prize money would be a great help towards this. It would also be the ultimate accolade for a pizza lover such as me to have my pizza sold in Domino’s stores across the country. I’m really hoping the people of Glasgow get behind me to vote for the Mexican Sizzler so we can claim this title for the Scotland!”

Latino diva Jennifer Lopez is famed the world over for her figure, but it seems the singer and actress isn’t prepared to sacrifice her favourite foods to achieve her slim-line look. Jennifer was snapped recently during a break from a photo shoot in the US tucking into a slice of her first choice snack, pizza.

The 40-year-old, who only gave birth to twins Max and Emme in February, looked every inch the star as she showed off her famous curves in a figure-hugging black dress. Although the Wedding Planner actress enjoyed a slice or two of pizza during a break in shooting, the health conscious star did opt for a low-calorie topping of mixed peppers with only a smattering of cheese on her pizza.

Reports claim that Jennifer worked hard to regain her pre-baby figure and embarked on a rigorous triathlon training schedule to help shift the extra pounds. Triathlon is a notoriously tough exercise regime and consists of swimming, cycling and running exercises all performed in immediate succession.

It is refreshing to see a celebrity enjoying her food for a change and Jennifer Lopez should be applauded for her sensible attitude towards eating. Even the rich and famous like to treat themselves to a little bit of what they fancy now and again proving something we’ve known for a long time; pizza is never a sin.

As part of Domino’s Pizza’s promise to bring its customers the very best home food delivery service, the pizza giant has launched a brand new service in the UK which will take the angst out of waiting for your delivery to arrive. The new project was launched in the UK last week and aims to provide customers with a more convenient and hassle-free means by which to order home delivered pizza.

The new Pizza Tracker hit Domino’s outlets in the UK last week at the same time the company were celebrating 10 years of online pizza orders. During these 10 successful years Domino’s has been at the forefront of developments and improvements to the online ordering system.

With more and more people opting to place their order using Domino’s fast and efficient online service, last year the company recorded £55.9 million worth of sales from its internet based service alone, plus 27% of Domino’s total pizza sales comes from this source.

The Pizza Tracker has already been successfully integrated into the Domino’s Pizza experience in the US as the system was introduced there back in January 2008. Now UK customers can enjoy the exceptional new system too. The Pizza Tracker keeps customers informed on the progress of their order every step of the way. It allows you to keep track of your pizza so you’ll know exactly when your delivery is ready to leave the outlet, where the driver is and how far away from your address.

Here’s what Sales and Marketing Director at Domino’s, Robin Auld, had to say about the new scheme: “Yet again, we are leading the way for technophiles with the Pizza Tracker. Having had online ordering for some 10 years now, we need to offer something new and exciting for our web customers – and the Pizza Tracker is a the ultimate toy for web-based control freaks! At the click of a mouse you can see exactly how near to delivery your pizza is.

So if you like to have total control over everything in your life, including your pizza, then this is the system for you. To download the Pizza Tracker for free to your iPhone please visit the Domino’s website.

This saturday however, another Simon is offering you an alternative to watching Cowell’s show. Simon Pegg’s first hollywood lead-acting role in “How to Loose Friends and Alienate People” is to be shown on terrestial television for the first time on Sky Movies Premiere.

The comedy, which received a generally good reception when it appeared in cinemas earlier this year, is inspired by a real-life story of a British journalist accepting a job in a top fashion magazine in the USA. The film follows Pegg’s performance as lead man Sidney Young as he attempts to build his own glittering career in New York and charm the not inconsiderable beauty of Kirsten Dunst.

So, if you feel like a change this saturday, order yourself a pizza and switch to Sky Movies Premiere to be one of the first to watch Pegg’s film on the small screen.
